Undead and Unsure A Queen Betsy Novel MaryJanice Davidson 9780425263433 Books

To be fair, this series was always weak on plot. The last handful of books, though, seem to be 90 percent immature dialogue and 10 percent plot.
In the early books, Betsy was sarcastic and immature - but still tolerable. With each subsequent book she gets more and more immature. It's no longer endearing.
What passes for plot in this book doesn't even get hinted at until 30 percent of the book is gone. Think about that. The first 30 percent of the book revolves around absolutely nothing - and can be tossed out and not change the story in the slightest.
Besides Betsy actually getting dumber (and less charming) with each subsequent book, Sinclair completely loses his cool factor this go-around. He used to be cool and now he is a flaming idiot with no sex appeal.
Zombie Marc is a hassle, Jessica's pregnancy is a bore and baby Jon is an afterthought.
In essence, this series has lost it's creativity and lovability and is complete drivel now. It should have ended six or seven books ago - and yet I'm the idiot that keeps buying them. I'm mostly mad at myself, really. Davidson wouldn't keep fleecing readers if we didn't let her.
The truth is, I don't want to let a series go before it is finished - but I have got to learn to let a series go that should be finished (even though it drags on and on and on and on and on). This series needs to be put out of its misery.

Vampire queen Betsy “don’t call me Elizabeth” Taylor is back—and there’s going to be Hell to pay—in MaryJanice Davidson’s “one of a kind” ( Darque Reviews)</i> New York Times </i>bestselling series… It’s no surprise to Betsy that her trip to Hell with her sister Laura landed them in hot water. Betsy isn’t exactly sorry she killed the Devil but it’s put Laura in a damnable position: assuming the role of Satan (she may not have the training but she looks great in red)—and in charge of billions of souls as she moves up in the world. Or is that down? But Betsy herself is in an odd new position as well—that of being a responsible monarch suddenly in charge of all things more earth-bound: like her vampire husband Sinclair who has gone from relieved to ecstatic to downright reckless now that he can tolerate sunlight. Undead and Unsure A Queen Betsy Novel MaryJanice Davidson 9780425263433 Books Reviews

I agree with the other reviews I use to love these books {along with some of my friends, who gave up already on these books} The author stated in one of the books {I think} that she was going a different direction with the story, well she ruined it. The new books since the cover change have been harder and harder to read, Where did the fun go?
This book was horrendous in every way. I won't repeat what others have said about a lack of plot, but it is true. All of the characters now could be Betsy. There is hardly any distinction between them. They all are juvenile, self absorbed, and lacking in intelligence. The biggest tragedy is the loss of Sinclair. In the beginning, he was rough, manly, and sexy. Throughout this addition, I kept thinking that Sinclair must be possessed or under a spell because there was no way his character would be so wussy and whiny. Nope...that's just what MJD has done to him. And Betsy! Ugh. She is now just a terrible person. There is nothing redeeming about her. I don't care any more whether they live happily ever after because they both are obnoxious. Then you have the plot line about Jessica and the later explanation. It made no sense. I can suspend my disbelief quite a bit (hence me reading vampire books), but this book jumped the shark about 10 times over. Save your money, and more importantly end the series still liking Sinclair and Betsy. If you read this, you definitely won't.
I wasn’t sure whether or not I was going to read this book because this series has been not-so-gradually spiraling into a big hot mess. Upon starting this one, I felt that it wasn’t quite as bad as the last few have been and find myself hoping that Davidson may have pulled her head out of her behind. Alas, by the end of the book, I felt it still left me unsatisfied and kindof guilty for having wasted my precious time on this series.
We pick up where we left off at the beginning of this book, with Betsy dealing with the aftermath of killing the Devil. Laura, her sister, who also happens to be the anti-Christ is super angry at her for killing her mom and so there is lots of drama there. Laura is angry and scared that in the absence of her mother, she will have to assume the role of Satan and she resents Betsy for putting her in that situation. Meanwhile, Sinclair is being reckless with his newfound ability to tolerate sunlight and nobody seems to know how far along Jessica is in her pregnancy and when she is due. It seems she has been pregnant forever and no one really seems to think anything of it.
The parts of the book I still dislike are that the plot always seems silly and pointless and just rambles on and the fact that Sinclair is much less the powerful vampire he once was, but is now an emasculated version of himself next to Betsy’s ditsy-genius act. I can’t quite get past the thisissostupid thing and even though this book is better than the past few have been, I feel like I’m coming to the end of my Queen Betsy fandom. I think I’m going to give up on the series from here on out.
This was the worst Betsy book ever. I have to sit back and wonder if the author even has a clue as to where she is going with this series. Perhaps, she should stake Betsy and Sinclair and put them out of their misery. UGH! This has happened so many times in series books. The reader gets into them loves the characters and then bam! The series goes to hell in a hand basket. Case in point L.K. Hamilton Anita Blake series. I didn't even bother to buy the last book. Authors actually need to do some work and not let the popularity of a series carry them. I skimmed through most of Undead and Unsure and can't even really tell you what a majority of the book was about. I wouldn't have bothered to skim past the first paragraph if I hadn't spent hard earned money on the book and felt I should get something for it. I gave Betsy 2 stars. One for actually having the guts to call this crap a book and pulling off getting it published. And another star for the last paragraph, which was the only thing of merit in the entire book. I honestly don't think I'll buy the next installment in the series when it hits the shelves. I can do better with my money and time.
I LOVED this series, but am so DONE. This book was the worst. I could hardly force myself to get through it, the writing was so bad. I kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting for some sort of plot but it never came. I don't know what in the world happened to this author to suddenly butcher and ruin this series, but I refuse to give her anymore of my money for NOTHING in return. I wish I could get my money back.
